Where to start

Looking for a property in Cornwall, but aren’t sure where to start? Here are some of the most popular spots to buy in the south west!

We know how overwhelming it can be when looking for a property here in the Duchy, especially with such a competitive market on the go. However, we are finding that there are a few areas in particular that are proving to be very popular with buyers here in Cornwall, and it’s not hard to see why. From stretches of wonderfully wild Cornish countryside to towns buried in history and local heritage, there are homes to suit all in this beautiful county, and we’ve come up with five of our favourite areas.

1. The golden triangle

In the space on the map between Truro, Falmouth and Redruth, there is a sort of countryside beauty that is attracting many home seekers to its folds. With sweeping expanses of green all around, the coast just minutes away, and with the added benefit of nearby towns on all sides, this particular expanse of Cornish land holds a wealth of promise for those looking for a forever home. Home to such places as Chacewater, Lanner, Ponsanooth, Carnon Downs, Devoran and Feock, we’ve found that this area generates plenty of interest.

One such home is a charming three-bedroom semi-detached house in Cusgarne, with a beautifully spacious garden and an enchanting privacy. After being put on the market for offers in excess of £500,000, this lovely property is now under offer and is but one example of the shining gems available in this stunning area.

2. The space in between

A little further north, in the stretch between Truro and St Austell, we’ve once more come across an area of Cornwall that is proving particularly popular with buyers. Dotted with small villages like Probus, Grampound, Grampound Road and Ladock, there’s a quaint and enchanting atmosphere to the in-between places, and some truly astonishing properties to be found there.

A four-bed, Grade II listed farmhouse with eight acres in the centre of Ladock, Glebe Farm makes for a perfect example, and with a guide price of £895,000 is currently under offer after being snapped up.

3. The cathedral city

While the sweeping allure of the country is difficult to resist, there is a kind of magic to be found in Cornish towns, and the city of Truro has just that. Home to a historic cathedral, Truro’s cobbled high street boasts a network of fine dining experiences, retail opportunities and some truly breath-taking properties, whilst being ideally located for convenient access to the rest of the county.

Just nabbed from the market, 33 Carvoza Road is an attractive, four-bed end of terrace period house within a short walk of the city centre, standing proudly on a charming and quiet road. With a guide price of £450,000, this beautiful property is a shining example of Truro’s residential offering and it’s not surprising that it wasn’t around for long.

4. The edge of the land

Considered to be the very essence of rural Cornwall, St Agnes is a beautiful and thriving village. Located on Cornwall’s north coast, and a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the picturesque village has several shops, bars and restaurants, and beautiful old stone cottages which line the main street and are staggered down the steep hills.

Completed earlier in the year, Hen House posed a wonderful opportunity for its current owners, this stunning four-bedroom house was offered at a guide price of £1.2M, and represented just one of the glittering gems in the St Agnes area.

5. Coastal sanctuary

Bordered by the Fal Estuary to the west and St Austell Bay to the east, The Roseland Peninsula has been designated part of Cornwall’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for the quality of its landscape and coastal scenery. Home to charming little villages such as Veryan, Ruanlanihorne, St Mawes and Portscatho, anyone looking for a home in this area is seeking peace and tranquillity in arguably the most beautiful setting in Cornwall

One such property just sold in this enchanting area is Treworlas House, set in the unspoiled rural hamlet of Treworlas just inland from the sea in Gerrans Bay. Open for offers over £985,000, here lies someone’s forever home in one of the most stunning Cornish settings.

Having recently Sold my house with Philip Martin Estate Agents I cannot praise the whole experience enough. From the first telephone conversation to the last it has been impressive. Professional, Polite, Guiding, Encouraging. I do need to mention Jack Loader, no question or query was too much trouble, making the selling process a pleasure.

James and his team handled a complex sale (house and adjacent land owned by a third party) with great professionalism and innovation and determination to secure our sale. He was also cognisant of our time scales in that we had not secured an onward purchase or rental property. James is an extremely approachable agent who always worked with us to successfully achieve our goals and certainly went ‘the extra mile’ when required. We cannot recommend him highly enough.

"We were so pleased with all the correspondence with Phillip Martin and you all certainly delivered a very professional and friendly service. We would particularly like to thank you for all your personal correspondence with Mrs. Dianne Jones. It went above and beyond and we are truly grateful.  As I mentioned before we have only ever bought two houses and they were both through Phillip Martin. We will certainly use you guys in the future!"

"
