The Roseland Agent
Designated as part of Cornwall’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the Roseland is a beautiful area of the County to visit with many villages including Veryan with its famous thatched round houses, the fishing villages of Portscatho and Portloe with picturesque harbours, and not to forget the wonderful St Just in Roseland with the most beautiful church in a gorgeous setting amidst semi tropical gardens and a unique waterside location.
It is not surprising that the Roseland is very desirable, not just for those who wish to visit and holiday but for those who live here, those who wish to settle down, return or retire to a magical lifestyle in a tranquil and beautiful part of Cornwall. Simon, our Roseland negotiator says "I should know as I live in St Mawes all year round and it really does offer so much more than you might expect as well as being one of the most picturesque places in Cornwall."
The Roseland is one of the destinations for many discerning holiday makers offering a variety of accommodation from camping and caravanning, to self-catering cottages and the ultimate luxury hotels such as The Hotel Tresanton and The Idle rocks in St Mawes, The Driftwood at Rosevine or The Lugger in Portloe.
The harbour nestled into the edge of the village with the small unspoilt beaches tucked away around little coves, fishing boats pottering around the coastline, traditional quaint properties close to the waterfront, an historic Castle and some of the most enchanting Cornish countryside surrounding the village. St Mawes is a very special place, the jewel in the crown of the Roseland Peninsula. The village is strategically placed at the very end of the Peninsula and at the entrance to Falmouth harbour, which is reputedly the third largest natural harbour in the world after Rio de Janeiro and Sydney. The St Mawes castle dates from the mid 1500’s and it is a well preserved fortress of Henry the VIII, being clover leaf shaped with its stunning views across the Carrick Roads and Falmouth Bay as well as being well positioned guarding the Fal estuary together with Pendennis Castle on the Falmouth side.
Today many types of vessel grace St Mawes throughout the year. Leisure boats, passenger ferries, cargo and cruise ships all pass this busy stretch of water which becomes quite a spectacle in the summer months with marine activity and colourful sailing boats parading the waters and enjoying the dramatic coastline. It’ll be a surprise to some but St Mawes has a great local community supporting many local events as well as providing a surprising amount of facilities including independent shops, a quality butchers and bakery, post office, chemist, village store, cafés, wonderful restaurants, many gift shops as well as a primary school, village hall, traditional old pubs, modern drinking establishments and maybe not surprisingly a very active sailing club and the traditional but well supported gig club.
The Roseland office is open 6 days a week throughout the year and is staffed with very experienced staff well equipped to deal with all aspects of the property market. Simon works from the Roseland office 6 days a week and living in the village he has great knowledge and understanding of the community as well as day to day village life. Simon is experienced when it comes to selling a range of property in St Mawes and has a proven track record.
